it’s not often, but sometimes I get overtaken with an unexplainable fervor to write something specific, for example:
- omniscient reader fanfiction i worked on for 3 days straight and published a day before my birthday
- the seeds of this digital garden (it’s 2:42 AM when I write this bullet point) When I was in elementary school, I wanted to publish a book before I turned 18. That didn’t happen, but I’ve enjoyed writing for a long time. I think I fare well with crafting short, flowery snippets. I struggle to think of clever plots though. I’m interested in learning!
goals
- I’m interested in learning how to write short stories. Their constraints require immense creativity.
- At some point in my life, I would like to complete a fiction novel. Maybe even self-publish.
Notable inspo from my reading:
my writing
- maybe working on a new substack about lyricism (music i like)
- maybe a substack on “cannibalism and the desire to be known”
- “the effort of creation”
- my thoughts as an artist in tech on AI and art as of 2024
- The Remission of Man
- analysis of a visual artifact (surrealist photograph)
- wrote this for an intro English class in college, still very much enjoy the photo that was analyzed, I do not think the professor read it she seemed to be going through a lot (trauma dumped every lecture)
- The Effectiveness of Postmodernist Techniques in Portraying the Inhumanity of War
- IB Diploma extended essay that I procrastinated way too hard on… but overall I’m still fairly proud of it! And the postmodernist techniques like self-reflexivity or non-linearity are still very interesting to me
- IB diploma put me through the wringer but it did give me sufficient writing ability.
- Slaughterhouse-Five
- The Book Thief
