Lyrics matter to me a lot. They used to arguably matter even more than the instrumentals, I would carefully read through the writing before adding a song to a playlist; I’ve changed a little on that front as I find myself listening to good beats with insubstantial content, but I’m still drawn to the songs with mind-blowing (to me) lyrical creativity.
- so simple… but DEVASTATING
- “We’ve come so far, can you see a life where we leave this behind?”
- “And I’ll run my guts back through the spoke again, measure by measure, in time with the songs we loved”
- I can’t fully describe how I react to these lyrics but this song amazes me
- this is a type of lyricism I love; each word intentionally picked; it’s why songwriting is the ultimate medium of emotional expression to me
- every line is relatively plain but carries so much pain, and the story unfolds perfectly, with an amazing final line
- “Watching you from the yard, life is sad, but here is someone”
- It’s an obfuscation, not saying what you mean but still conveying it in the most perfect, concise manner
- beautiful instrumentals; bittersweet, tired, defeated or accepting
- lyricism
- the balance of plain and cryptic phrasing, relevancy of “fantasy is keeping me alive” and “your will can never win”
- instrumentals
- harp!
- cozy, wishful, nostalgic
- particular style executed well
- catchy rhythm in the verse and leadup to chorus
- actually everything is very catchy
- repetitive leaps
