i hear it all the time, for good reason
my perception of urgency and success have noticeably shifted after entering a new work environment. as i spend time among a different set of people than previously, i feel myself bending. i become aware of how malleable it all is: my ideas of what accomplishments to strive for, and what is sufficient to be satisfied. word vomit: hungry, dropout, startup, make the thing that changes the world, cutthroat, risk, reward, grit vs. stable, careful, balance, predictable, secure, established, safe, fun, friendly, generalist vs. academic, prestige, acknowledgement, novel, specialization, niche
in each environment, ambitions grow, shrink, or transform
it’s easy to be swayed. reaffirms the importance of having a guide for inspiration
